I currently stand a 4.0 GPA in Honors classes, but I feel like I can't hold onto that for much longer. In Photography, I don't understand anything, and becuase of the teacher's lack of help, I'm not getting it, and I have late assignments (which she won't let me turn in) because of my lack of comprehension. No one else that I know can help me outside of that class, and during it, if I get caught asking for help, security takes me to the office for "disturbing the learning processes of the other students". It's quite stupid, and I've always had a 4.0 throughout school, but I can't hold onto that much longer if my teacher doesn't help me.
What am I supposed to do? I can't switch out of her class, and I can't schedule a time to get help, because of my training schedule for speed skating.
I'm screwed.

would talking to the school counselor help? that is their job afterall. to help you and mediate with the teachers. there has to be something they can do to help. teachers shouldn't be able to get away with not helping you when you don't understand. take care.

What will happen if you don't have 4.0 for once? Will there be actually real consequences (losing scholarship so on), or is it just matter of pride?

If nothing bad happens, I would just go for a pass and be done with it.

Maybe you can consult your classmates... maybe they understand it bit better. If not, maybe it would be reason to complain at higher places eh.

If I don't have a 4.0 by the end of the semester (which is May 23rd, I think), I'll lose any chance at any type of scholarships, unless I can get in on my speed skating scholarships, but they won't consider me on those until my Senior year. I'm a Freshman in high school currently, so I still may have a shot. As of right now, though, no chance on any type of scholarships.

All that my counselor told me was that I need more effort. Umm...wtf??????

wait you are in HS? And first year?

I am sure there are scholarships that will not care if you had 4.0 in freshman year. How much would one class impact you anyway? Just do your best, but don't overstress.

Pay attention to the "real" classes; no one is going to care if you get an "A" in photography, even "honors" photography unless you are going to be a photographer!

There is a lot more to high school and getting scholarships/into college than just the grades; you have to be "well rounded" and straight 4.0 even if it were possible is not well rounded. I do not know where you are getting your ideas about scholarships but they do not sound correct.

Yea, but technically, according to my speed skating coach, if I want any chance at scholarships, I have to keep a 4.0, even in the Honors classes. I'm in 4--AP Algebra 2, Honors Forensic Science, Honors Business Applications 2, and College Placement Technological Issues (fixing computers). If I get a B in Photography, my overall GPA will be (from what my counselor told me) either a 3.4 or 3.6. That's apparently not going to satisfy my dad...

It's what my teachers told me. I listen to every single thing that they say.
