Let's just say that I've been trying to pin something down to write a speech about for hours with no avail.

It needs to be on "new technology or trends in your area of study." My field is going to be psychology.

I know everyone is interested in psychology on this board, and I was hoping someone read something interesting lately, or could help me out!

How about the advancement in brain scanning technology (e.g. fMRI scanners) that has enabled scientists to identify more accurately the roles of the brain in human behaviour by measuring changes in blood flow to specific areas in the brain?

Does anything in the 'alternative medicine' interest you enough to give a speech about it? Research shows that most people use alternative therapies at some point in their lives so that certainly fits the 'new trend' description.

The list is long: meditation, acupuncture, over-the-counter meds, breathing, prayer, spiritualism or religion, exercise, yoga or Tai Chi, dance, massage, healthy eating, support or 12-step groups, animal therapy, the role of support such as friendship, etc, etc.

Best wishes - let us know what you come up with.

CBT is being used for psychosis/ schizophrenia this is well known in the UK and Europe but just starting in the USA....

Heck just providing any therapy to people with psychosis is new....mostly it was just medication and monitoring before....
