Growing up, I had no problems with school. I was very awkward and shy up until middle school. However, I was incredibly smart. I didn't get my first B until 8th grade. I never had to study and I always seemed to get by on my natural intellect. Once high school hit, it was a rude awakening. I realized that I wasn't as smart as I thought I was and studying wasn't optional. I started following a bad crowd and started doing a lot of drugs. Fast forward to a couple years ago. I started community college. I don't know how else to put it, but I'm screwed. My grades are falling, my attendance is poor. This ship is sinking fast. I don't know what to do! I can't keep paying for classes that I don't pass. I don't even know why I'm failing. I sit down to do my homework...and my mind just goes blank. I'm a month behind on my homework and I'm on the brink of failing all my classes. I'd be lucky to scrape by with a D. I'm starting to think if college is even worth it. Maybe it's not for me. I always thought I was an intelligent person who'd make something out of himself. But I just can't get my head in the game. I need help. I should be doing homework right now even! But instead I decided to come on PC and complain about it.

I was thinking about talking to the disability department but I wasn't sure they would take me seriously. Can I really get help based on my depression/anxiety/ADD? People usually aren't very sympathetic when it comes to mental illness.

Absolutely, that's what they're there for. They will help you and any of those conditions qualify you for assistance.

I'm kind of having the same problem right now. I'm in my first semester in college and I never really studied in high school or anything so it's hard for me to study and learn material for my classes. I'm starting to fall behind and give up and skip class because of my anxiety and depression. I'm going to just try my best to finish out the semester and then maybe take next semester off. I feel like college isn't "for" me but I can't go into my desired career field without college, ya know. It's just a frustrating time.
Going to the counselling center or services center is a good idea too, they may be able to help. Also talk to your professors- they will probably be understanding about your issues and may be able to provide extra help to you. Good luck! ![]()

I would suggest you to consult a counselor. You can also join some interactive after-school clubs. They will definitely help you with your studies and homework.
