I just filled out the online application today, which is part one. Now I need to get some paperwork filled out by my psychiatrist, that's part two. Then I need to meet with one of my school's counselors to go over introductory material and assess my needs.
I'm a little worried because right now all I have diagnosed is Bipolar I and GAD, but I have a feeling I have adhd and dyslexia and dyscalculia too, but I haven't been properly assessed. I want to be assessed though, so I'm working on getting that done through my clinic. It just might take too long. And I don't know how long my psychiatrist wants to wait before deciding for sure whether I have adhd or not because I've been manic lately and he's been more concerned about that. Has anyone applied for disability services through their college? What sort of help did you get? I don't even know what I want out of this except being able to take the tests in a quiet room alone, but I don't know what else is an option.

i got extra time to do assignments. i used that once when i was freaking out during midterms and had papers due in all my classes at the same time. i knew i could get them done but not as perfect as i wanted to. they were all due on thursday so i got one of them extended to monday so i had the weekend to complete it.
i also could leave class if i was triggered/panic attack whenever i needed to without being penalized. |

I think the type of accommodations depend on the college. Some are more lenient than others. Standard accommodations often include extended time, separate testing area for exams, and assistance with note taking.
I'm a senior in high school and planning to register with the disability service office at my college in the Fall. From what I've read, pretty much every college wants you to advocate for what specific accommodations you feel are necessary and provide evidence that you need the accommodation and/or have used it in the past.
