I take metformin which makes me really nauseaus but is really helping me lose weight so i dont want to stop it, but it made me throw up on my keyboard two days ago and completely fried my computer.

The apple store said it would cost about 1400$ to fix and i only paid 1000$ to begin with.

I have two classes with regular online homework that i cant do from my phone (they require excel and other things) so i was feeling really hopeless until my grandma said she'd chip in 200$ toward a new computer and my brother chipped in 100$ and i got paid 550$ today, so i could afford to get the 675$ lenovo z50 computer me and my brother picked out. It should arrive on monday. Yay. Then i can do my homework again!

that is great that your family was able to help you. i keep a garbage can right next to my chair where i do my computer work. maybe you should do that too so you are prepared if you have to throw up again

That's a sign of a very serious side effect of that medication. I got to the point while taking it that I couldn't even keep water down. I think it eventually wrecked my digestion because I'm unable to eat dairy now and I ate tons of dairy before I took that medication. Surely there's another option to help you lose weight that isn't going to potentially harm you.

But I'm glad you were able to get another computer.

I was doing well and hadnt thrown up for like a three weeks ( ive only been on it less than 2 months) but then this incident hapoened when i drank a peotein smoothie with it. I had another protein smoothie yesterday and the same thing happened. I think i just need to stick with solid food even thoigh thats harder for me because my appetite is so low. Like today i could only eat a small handful of dried banana chips for breakfast.
I dont want to go off it though because ive already lost 41lbs in less than 2 months. There is another option but my pdoc is refusing to take it. I could take a srimulant like adderall for my adhd which has weight loss as a side effect but he thinls i will go manic. Even though in college i tried adderrall for quite a while and it just made me feel normal for once. But i cant go around telling my pdoc i took someone elses meds or hell think im a drug seeker or abuser.

Barf + Computer = No Good.

I'm so sorry, but I'm glad you got fixed up with another one. It drives me nuts when doctors won't listen about meds, and especially because they won't consider suggestions.

Thanks for the support guys.

I braved up for better or for worse and emailed my pdoc about my adhd sotuatiom (basically hes ignoring it and refusinf to treat it and wants me to tough it out because ive gotten good grades in the past) so i mentioned the limited drug experimeentation in college ( ot really was limited compared to my classmated) and told him i had tried adderall 20mg for a while and that it was the most normal i had ever felt and that was thee one finals period i dodnt go manic because i was calm. I dont know what he'll make of my message or if ill get to change from metformin to a stimulant but i figured it was worth a shot. Mu main goal thougj was not to get on a stimulant but to have my adhd addressed at all. He wont even put me on strattera because he thinks its a stimulant. Well its an snri and ive been on effexor an snri and been just fine in the past.

And yeah for lenovo, they have some really good computers. Mine will just be mid range but it is i7 with a terrabyte hard drive, so thats nice. Thw screen res is supposed to be pretty good too and the keyboard has a number pad which i could really use for all i do in excel.
