First, I would say is be prepared. I make sure I have done everything I can do to be ready. I go over notes. I read the textbooks. I don't stay up late into the night. I do one final review the night before and then I go to bed early to be fresh and ready in the morning.
I avoid sedatives. They can make you sleepy and forgetful. You need to do what the doctor suggests but I inform the doctor that I will not be taking any sedatives the night before the test. I still take my sleep medication but I go to bed early to get 8 to 10 hours of sleep. I eat a good breakfast. This will help you stay awake and alert. Don't overeat. If you drink coffee on a regular basis make sure you stick with that routine. If you have tests in the afternoon do not skip on lunch but again don't overeat. After that just breathe... Slow down and try to relax... Panic will not help you so if that is something you deal with try to distract yourself... Listen to music... Go for a walk... Whatever works best for you... |

The tips above are great especially the be prepared part. As mentioned, taking a last look over notes the day and night before the test. I never look over them again the day of the test.
The other thing that helps is that I get there early so I don't worry about missing it, and I read something like a novel, mystery, light book, or magazine to distract me from the panic. By changing gears for the moment to something unrelated to the test subject, I tend to go in more refreshed and relaxed. Also during the test, I make sure I read the full question and all the answers 2 times before answering. It helps quell any panic if unsure the first time reading it through and to make better decisions by taking your time. This may sound silly but it has been shown to help, chewing mint gum or using a mint lozenge, helps calm and stimulate mental capacity for recall. Best wishes. ![]()

Study properly and be confident about all that you have learnt. Also exercise and get enough sleep.
