HUGE DECISION to Make

I am currently in college, and am about to graduate. I am taking an elective class that is out of my major, so I can experience something new. I have been talking to my mom about how much I am really enjoying this class. My mom then asked me if I majored in the wrong field and if I had a chance to redo college if I would pick a different major. I told her I would still do my major i originally picked (the one I am about to get my degree in) because I love it, but I would have looked into another major as well. Like getting a double major. My mom then asked me what kind of jobs I could get in the new field I am growing a rapid love for. I told her and she told me to look into getting information from my college about getting a major in it. I am torn on what to do. I will find out the info. But I am torn on what to do because I am currently on my last semester of college and if I add on a minor or a major for the new field, I will not be able to attend graduation, which I am sure will upset my family members that already made plans to come to my graduation. But I do have my mom's support behind this. I guess I am torn because I do not want to upset the rest of my family that already made plans to come to see me graduate. Any advice?

Graduate, then go back to college?

You'll likely only use one of the two for jobs pick which you'd like to do or are more likely to find a job in......

Wouldn't this change the rate you pay to graduate school tuition?

Not if the OP is going back for an undergrad degree which it sounds like he would be since he only has one class in that major. At least most colleges are like that. I have an MS and if I wanted to go back(I do, for math, econ and art history) I would pay the undergrad tuition unless it is an actual graduate program but those are actually easier to fund since we can teach classes in exchange for tuition waivers + a stipend.

Depending on what state(assuming the OP is in the US) they may have credit limits on pell grants. My state caps it at 250 quarter credits. That doesn't affect actual tuition rates.

It is strange that they won't let you walk in the ceremony with your first degree if you have another degree pending. If you want to participate for your family, graduating and then declaring another major would be the best way to do that. You might want to talk to an adviser about everything.

With a phd I can't even apply for another undergrad at the university I work at...I was considering computers but can't do it for a degree, kind of defeats the purpose of formal education, might as well go with certification instead. I think there is variation from state to state which is why I asked....

So your state only allows multiple phd's to be earned concurrently? That is weird. I have gone to school in a few states and none are like that.
