I got a letter from one of the places that holds my student loans, saying something about changes... I couldn't make sense of it at all, but I have a major anxiety about talkiing on the phone. I managed to call the 800 number, and get to a person.
So the change was that my payment was going up, I owed over $600 a month to them, and I was already past due. The guy on the phone asked if that was doable for me. I told him no, that I am on disability and do not work. He asked about my income last year, and I told him the wages that were claimed on my taxes for last year (since I did work some), and my net social security a month. He put in the numbers, for the income based repayment plan, and came back with $0 a month, as part of a forbearance. Still have to wait for it to be approved officially, but thatf would take a major load off my stress level.

Yes. A forbearance means that I don't have to make payments for a while, since my income means I cannot afford it.
