I genuinely don’t know what’s wrong with me. I’ve been trying to work on the same essay for about 13 days now. Every time I open the document and try to write something, I just get overwhelmed with the futility of it all. No one genuinely cares what I’m writing. The professor is only going to skim it to make sure I was paying attention in class. I’ve never had writers block this bad before.
I'm a senior, and if I don’t finish this paper I won’t pass the class. I’ll lose my financial aid and not finish college.
I wish that was enough motivation to make me write it. But genuinely, I’m so burned out at this point and so so f***ing exhausted, that I really can't force myself to care.
What’s wrong with me.....

Since you post here about it, you do care.

Writer's block is a strange thing. If you start worrying about what the professor will think about your whole paper, every individual sentence you write, of course that is going to be difficult to write that sentence.

I don't know what futility you mean, as you say you are close to finishing and you actually risk not finishing at all. You mean you don't like the subject?

I don't know what you do to clear your mind, get motivated and recharged to study. I think that is the main advice for students. Do sports, get a social network of fellow students, do cool things and support each other's studies while also working hard when not doing fun stuff.

I almost failed my math course, and i had to ask for an Incomplete to get it extended so i could finish the work, that way i got extra time to work on it. Fortunately i was granted a IN and passed with a D even if you only get a D it should still be passing in most schools, but i know you would probably like a higher grade. Considering it is a course that you only need to finish as your last course for the degree? that was my case and i had to beg for an incomplete and the teacher was a B****. I ended up with the D and now have my Bachelors degree. Good luck!!!
