Hi I'm Peonie!

I have Bipolar Disorder Type II...

I'm somewhat stable at present and I hope it will continue that way even after my US Nursing exam will finish.

I'm just anxious with all the preparations and processing of my papers since I'm a foreign graduate nurse from the Philippines...also the review is hectic and difficult but thankfully on my own pace...

Any tips on how to deal with anxiety as the days for taking the exam is getting nearer?

So much is at stake here: my reputation and the money that I borrowed from my parents that is roughly around 1,500 USD...

My planned date to take the exam is around the month of July...it will depend on how fast the processing of my papers will be completed...

Please help me guys...

Thanks and much love!

I don't really know about this, but... if it was me, I would look for other nurses, and other Filipino nurses to coach me about the exam. That would be my first step, because these people know what goes down and they would fully understand feeling anxious about your investment in passing the exam.

I would narrow my focus to what I can control and block out worrying about the rest of it. I say this with full sympathy for what it represents to take a loan - but I'm sure that your parents trust that you are doing this in good faith and it's really not a huge amount of money to pay back at some time.

I would work really hard with my doctor on healthy lifestyle and medication.

I would practice taking small positive actions of empowerment in my life and give myself full credit . Many people here - including myself - have a default of panic and powerlessness that is no longer realistic now that we are adults.

Inner self talk: you passed your nursing degree already. You have shelter, food and what is necessary for life. You have sanity and physical health. Stand with your feet planted on the ground, look at nature around you and change your habit of focusing on the "whatifs". I've learned to stand in the present because however much we worry we don't know what is coming for the future.

Big hugs, and please ignore any of my comments that don't seem appropriate to you!

P.S. Do you love nursing? Studying for it is hard, and passing exams always gives other power in your life, but if you love something that is a big step forward already.

Thank you for these helpful tips!

Truth be told, I don't love Nursing. My parents just convinced me to take that degree when I was still sixteen and unsure of what course to take.

I've only realized my affinity for business now that I'm an adult.

Having my RN license is just a means to an end. I sound ruthless but I'm just trying to have a matter-of-fact tone to my answer.

I hope you'll make it, Pennie30! We'll be rooting for you here. Just try to do the best you can, but remember to take some time to relax as well! Too much studying isn't good. Try to talk to some students who have already done that exam if you know any. Try to keep an healthy lifestyle. And most importantly, believe in yourself! You can do this! You're strong, I know that. I believe in you. This is a very important step you're taking. Just try your best. That's all you can do after all. Feel free to PM me anytime. Let me know if I can do something to help you. Wish you good luck! Let us know how it goes. Sending many hugs to you

I actually forgot in my original post that I'm scared...

Scared that if I fail, I got so much to lose and may lead me to a downward spiral of depression again...

I don't want that to happen Undergoing a Registered Nurse examination
