Do you know what you are looking for when you log in to PC? Are you looking to post and get responses, get hugs, read something interesting, keep track of online friends and just interact/play? What is your predominant reason for logging in?

I think I mostly like to read and respond to things that engage my interest (which is not about the post as much as it is about me and my interests and the working of my warped mind :-) Especially sometimes late at night, reading other people's problems and thinking about them helps keep any anxieties at bay and helps me get to sleep, gives me something real to interest my mind. What would I do in those circumstances, how is it like my experience, what do I say in response?

I like talking to other people in therapy as, while a few people in my life know I have a T, I wouldn't discuss the relationship like I do on here. It helps me do to feel less alone in general and helps occupy / distract my mind on difficult days. I like to read and post and reply basically.

I come onto PC to read and get inspiration, or ideas on how to handle my life better, help where I can, mostly I come here to read seeking solace or resolutions to my problems or get answers to my questions.

There are some excellent resources here, for me, its better than therapy!

I think i like to read the threads that sound as though they have some resonance with me, something that sounds similar to maybe something i may have experienced. I like to see what other people have to say that may help the situation and i also like to reply if i feel i have got something relevant to say. I don't post just for the sake of posting which is why my number of posts is not mega high but i do like to contribute if i feel i have something really worthwhile to contribute. I do start the odd thread when i have something in particular that i feel someone may be able to help me with, i find the members on PC to be really friendly and helpful.

I also really like the creative forum, i am not creative myself but i love to read other people's poetry and look at some of the artwork and photography. I find this section to be a really nice distraction and i always check out creative corner when i come on PC.

So, to sum up i would say i come for advice, support, to offer support when i can, and to have some distractions.

For responding to others:
I have an extremely boring job, which does not provide intellectual stimulation. Also, it does not provide human contact on a face-to-face basis - everything is via email/IM/phone conferences, for the most part, and the staff is distributed around the globe so I have never met most of the folks I work with.

Unlike the job, PC provides stimulation.
Like the job, PC does not provide face-to-face contact. So it is either better or same.

For my own threads: I look for personal accountability, support from others, a written record of my thoughts and feelings and the facts on my life, and many more. For practical advice on fighting fruit flies and boiling eggs.

I like seeing how other people solve problems, often with thoughts and approaches I wouldn't come up with. I don't have much interaction with people on a human level, just professional students, so this gets me a bit in touch with other people who are letting their guards down. I had no luck in therapy, and it's interesting to see how other people did or not.
Thanks for this!

It depends on what mood i am in.
I came on this evening to go onto the 'Games' section, in order to stop thinking about things and just pass the time.
Other times i'll want to get advice or support, or other times i'll just want to come on and feel safe to be myself, in the company of others who i feel i can relate to.

For me it's about support from other's and reading about other people's thoughts and what they choose to share about their lives.

It helps me to feel that I'm not the only one out there.
Thanks for this!

I'll be honest. I don't often need support but I think I can get support here if needed... and give (I hope) support here but it's mainly a temporary distraction for me. One of my stops while surfing the net. The main reason I come here is because of a few good friends I have here.
Thanks for this!

To give and receive support. A safe place to post, and express myself. Listen and learn.

I frequent this site not just because of the great support you find here but that I feel as if the people on this site really truly get what it feels like to be depressed. I feel as if I'm not alone. As if I'm not the only person going through this. It's almost like having friends....
Now that makes me feel kind of pathetic :P

the feeling of friendship for sure and not being alone in your disorder, I have met people with the same problem as me and that is helpful.

I think I just like knowing that I'm not alone. I've spent years believing that my problems were just mine, that no one could understand and certainly not relate. I'm not that special! And actually, for once in my life, that makes me feel good and gives me hope.

It helps to know that others are going through the same things. I like advice when it comes from a caring place--I despise overly moralistic responses, I try to be respectful whatever response I get. Sometimes lively but respectful debate grabs me or silly stuff like what animal does your T remind you of (seal or sea lion in my case)
