I dislike to take a pill in every Pannic attack or anxiety, so, including meditation and mindfullnes, has anybody tried any natural remedies?
What about valerian or melatonin? |

I see a naturopathic physician from time to time, she gave me L-Theanine 200 mg and told me to take 2 or 3 as needed for anxiety. But, right after I saw her last, I had a big improvement in my state of mind, and honestly, I never even opened the bottle, so I can't vouch for it. She said it was very effective and had no bad side effects.

Valerian root might be helpful, I use it sometimes. Keep in mind a few things:
Natural things are not necessarily safer or more effective. In some cases, they can be dangerous, and in many cases there is not a lot of scientific evidence that they do work. Natural things are not regulated properly a lot of the time. This means that 4 bottles of Valerian root from the exact same manufacturer with the exact same packaging do not necessarily all have the same chemicals in them. The valerian root is dried and crushed - but there are many other chemicals in the root, not just valernic acids (which are responsibly for the anxiety reducing effects). Some roots could have a lot of valernic acid, and others could have less. Because of the lack of regulation it is impossible to know. That being said, we know a lot of pharms can be addictive and sometimes they aren't right for us. I wouldn't recommend against trying herbal remedies just because of the issues I've outlined above. Just be careful, make sure to check interactions with any other medications you're taking, and don't ignore side effects if they do occur. Porcelain
