(a CBT related worksheet)

This was an eye-opening excercise for me.

ACTIVITY PLEASURE PREDICTION WORK-SHEET - divide page into 3 columns

Anticipated Pleasure (0-100) ------- Activity -------- Actual Pleasure (0-100)

ex. 10 --------- walk ---------- 80
ex. 50 -------- shop ---------- 10
ex. 10 -------walk to shop --80

What had you expected? Why? What fell short of expectations? Were those things controllable? What was better than expected? Could those things be utilized in the disappointing activities?

ex. (above) walking turned out better than I had expected. Shopping was crap. I tried walking to the shop and it was a real improvement.

Thanks for sharing this, rcat. It's cold, overcast & raining today where I live. I took our dog for a walk during a lull. I expected it to be not particularly pleasant... it wasn't. But at least we got 'er done...

Walking has always been theraputic for me. It gets the endorphines going in the brain and i always feel better. There is pleasure in it because it does not cost anything, there is no time table or pressures attached to it. It is just enhancing ones surroundings and drinking it in.

Walking outdoors isn't pleasurable when I am too depressed and anxious, maybe because there's too much stimulation? Sometimes feels overwhelming. Am going to try this with using the treadmill and listening to music.

Sometimes I am mystified by my inability to correctly predict. I had three social things this week. The one I was really dreading turned out to be the best, the other two that I had been looking forward to were kind of a drag.

This is interesting, thanks
(I've seen it before in a book (a while ago) and liked it then too)
