I just made a list of my summer goals and a plan on how to accomplish them. Feeling hopeful!

I think the hardest thing for me will be following through. I really lack self discipline and want to improve on this skill. I think finding self discipline is the key to unlocking a lot more success at my goals and life in general.

It's hard not to give up or give in to feelings of wanting to quit. There is always push back from my mind and body on establishing routines, doing things I know I should do, but don't want to, etc.

I'm hoping by posting here I can keep myself accountable and get some support. I'm going to take it one goal at a time for a few weeks then move into the next once I've established a pattern. Wish me luck?

Thanks for this!

Hello KoalaBP: I see this is your first post here on PC. So... welcome to PsychCentral... from the Skeezyks! I hope you find the time you spend here to be of benefit. Good luck with your summer goals! Perhaps you'll share some of them in subsequent posts.

Thanks you Mr. Sheezyks! You are very kind. Yes I will post them as I go I think. The first goal is getting organized. This covers housekeeping - one chore each night after dinner. And just for an extra bonus I'm trying to meal plan and grocery shop each Saturday. I want to live a little more frugally this summer and pay off my car. Thanks for the support. Love your bison picture too!

Hi Sheezyks! I tried to post a message earlier, but it didn't go through. Forgive me if two messages end up getting posted.

I just wanted to say thanks for the welcome and the support. You are very kind!

I will definitely post my progress as I pursue each goal. I think I'll do a midway check in and a final post each time. Gives me something to look forward to in my progress.

I created a calendar this afternoon to track my days and decided upon a reward if I reach my three week mark. Here's to gaining some self-discipline!

You might want to read the Tightwad Gazette by Amy Dacyczyn. I found it very helpful when trying to feed a family of 5 on a corporals salary. The best thing about her book and style is that it isn't a one size fits all do what I say sort of thing. It started out as a news letter and grew. She worked very hard on a US military salary to take them from living pay check to pay check to her hubby retiring and buying their dream place.

I decide to do the same as you do. I am suffering from depression and have not been cleaning the house or ironing my clothes for a long time. I also have problems getting out of the house and doing grocery. Maybe I can keep a deadline and congratulate myself when I finish a chore within that particular time. Hope to get your support in this.

attentionThis is an old thread. You probably should not post your reply to it, as the original poster is unlikely to see it.
