So my goal started today. I've mentioned it before in my Summer Goals post but I like the idea of having a thread devoted just to this goal. Here it is specific and measurable (that's what all the goal setting blogs / articles say to do).

GOAL #1: Do one chore each night after dinner and meal plan on Saturday mornings.
Sun - Laundry
M - Kitchen
T - Living Room
W - Bedroom
Th - Bathroom
F - Hallway / Pantry
Sat - Beauty Night (take a day off and pamper myself as a reward for all my hard work!)

I have three weeks to do this everyday and then I will treat myself to a manicure & pedicure at the nail shop. I have a calendar white board to track my progress on and will mark a star on each day if I accomplish my goal.

I'm telling you all of this so you can keep me accountable. I'd love to hear your goal all spelled out too!

Hi!
I have already replied to your previous thread. I have to make a list like you. I will not be able to clean one whole room per day like you. So I will have to start with something less vigorous. I will post my thread here too. Hope to get your support in my ordeal.

Definitely Desiree!! It's all about making small changes - a little at a time.

Sounds like you have a good plan, and I like the idea of rewarding yourself.

Good luck with it.

It's been about a week and I would say it is going ok.

I hit my chore goal 3 nights out of 7. I meal planned and grocery shopped on Saturday.

What I did well:
- Scheduled the chore into my evening routine.
- Set a timer when I wanted to procrastinate so that I could put the chore off, but only for so long.
- Made sure that I recognized my effort with a mark on the white board.

What I can change:
- FOCUS. In my excitement, I've been adding other goals into my evening. I realize now that this is overwhelming me. I need to take that stuff off of my plate and just worry about the chore for right now.
- ATTITUDE. I am a perfectionist and the fact that I didn't hit my goal every night in a row is killing me. It feels like I've already failed and the three weeks isn't even up yet. I need to endorse myself for the effort and look to this week with a positive perspective.

I will adapt my approach and report back here next week.

If your a perfectionist you can be your own worst enemy. Remember that this is new and it takes time to build a new habit.

Hey Htoun! Thanks for asking. I actually got a new job this past week so my schedule has totally changed. I'm going to have to re-think how I do my chores and adjust to the demands of the new job. I work 11 hour days for 3 days straight, then have 4 days off. I'm thinking of devoting one or two of those days purely to housework and get it done that way. But it might get a little overwhelming too, so I haven't decided yet. I'll post back when I get things figured out.

attentionThis is an old thread. You probably should not post your reply to it, as the original poster is unlikely to see it.
