I've had floaters all my life. Doctors usually don't do anything about them.

I had fun having house guests. And now I'm having fun with quiet time. Book - still editing. Found two mistakes in 35 pages. I thought I was done with editing. Apparently not. Oh, I found a better photo for the cover. Now if I can just get to the point where I'm done editing and can work on the cover. It's a shark swimming through a mangrove swamp. The photo is dark and mysterious with flashes of orange for interest. I'll do the writing in a slightly redder and darker orange. It looks more mysterious and less Halloween that way. If I ever get the editing finished, I'll be excited about doing the cover.

D, keep editing. I have a report to edit myself. I set a goal: say 10 edits. When I've reached 10, I reset.

This encourages me to feel there are mistakes to find in them there texts.

In Seattle, and we're looking into the oven of a Heat Dome in the next few days. Predictions (they are usually off around 3°) is a high sometime of 94.

What I've learned is that it's my clothes which make the comfort. Not every short sleeve shirt is equally comfortable; I donated most of my thick polo shirts because of the climate collapse. Swapped them for short sleeve shirts cut in the baseball-jersey style: no collar, v-neck, button front. These are amazingly hard to find in any fashion style. With team logos, yeah, but I can't wear clothes with vertical lines because they make me look even thinner than I am. Also, I can't hold up my side in any convos the shirt would spark.

Does seersucker work for you, @Revu2? I'm not a fan of it myself, but my wife seems to think it's good for hot weather.

Also, there's a cloth you can dampen and wear around your neck. Search for cooling towels, perhaps.

Anyway, hope you can stay cool!

Hi SPG, seersucker doesn't work for me. I have an old yellow shirt in this material, and it feels too bumpy on hotter days. It doesn't breathe well.

Stepping back into productive mode Monday after a casual extended holiday break. Have a letter to write the court pleading that it drop or reduce an over the limit ticket. Photo-ticketed. I think with the help of Chester (Chat-GPT) I ought to have a decent draft by Thurs. morning. I keep humming the

song from West Side Story. Just list all the reasons the mercy of the court should be exercised. It wont strain it.

I have to call the modern blinds folks and (ideally) hired them to come remove and then put back our blinds so we can put in new windows. Second best would they carefully explain how I can do it.

Ticketmaster reported a data breach to me. Not sure when I used them, they might have been the app used by a theater or event. Anyway, they'll pay for a year of credit monitoring. In theory that should take under 15 minutes to do.

Early in the day, I have a review of a manuscript to send back to my editor. Got it ready today~now to print it out for a last look over and off it goes.

Drat, I lost the post I wrote.

It's easy to temporarily remove blinds if you know the way the bracket works.

I've attached two images of Bali brackets. The idea is that the front of the blind's top bar hangs onto the front of the bracket. Then the bar is "tipped in" to lock in the back of the bar.

To release, push the back part of the bracket against the wall and then reverse the "tipping" motion.

I just lost my post too.

The plastic surrounding the the screen on my laptop cracked. It worked for a while, but it was only a matter of time before . . . So July 3, I took the ailing laptop to Staples, to the repair shop, home, to Staples and to Best Buy where I bought a new computer. All this time, I had the laptop open because if I closed it, that could mean the death of the old computer. By the time I'd done with all the traveling, the computer was critically ill - no terminally ill. On July 5th, I picked up my new computer. Best Buy had uploaded most of the information from my old computer to the new one. I had to finish the job by loading passwords into my phone. By the time I'd finished, I was locked out of everything. I couldn't even get to my novel because I was locked out of Word.

Many bad words were said. Many, many bad words. Anyway, I'm finally back among the land of the computer literate.

I started to post on this forum, and couldn't remember the name of this site. With my old computer, the site popped up automatically. I thought I'd lost you two for good.

Anyway, today, I decided to try to find this site. I typed in mental health forum, which gave support forum as an option, and ta-da! I'm back! Close call.

I'm almost ready to publish, but I keep finding errors. (same old, same old.)

I'm so SO glad you found your way back to us! After I was away for awhile, I forgot that it changed to MSF, but the PsycheCentral domain redirects here, so I came back! BTW, I always have to look up the spelling for "Psyche" -- I'm so glad it's six letters and not five so I don't have to worry about it showing up in Wordle one day!

I can imagine the bad words!

The idea of subscription-based software irks me. I did not buy MS Office for this computer or the previous one, which I bought in 2016. I use LibreOffice instead.

But I use MS Office at work. It keeps getting worse with every update.

Hello crew. D, I process so many emotions reading your trials—anger, suspense, delight, frustration, fear.

Best Buy seems to have done good by you. Whew. Getting good customer service is—surprisingly—a surprise. Remember to back up.

Since last check in, got the letter to the court out with a return receipt delivery. I got the card yesterday.

Had been doing pretty well with my unbusy agenda, but my partner has rallied us to replace 3 windows. So, over the next 10 days or so we'll both be swimming in the chaos.

It's been almost 200 days since my JubliGlee started, and I'm just now feeling the last traces of work exhaustion leaving my body. More will roll in with the chaos that's pending, but the recovery ought to be faster.

Hi, R and Square Peg,
I got brave and uploaded my manuscript. Then I designed the cover and requested a proof. I knew it would be good, but fortunately, I asked for the proof instead of publishing. Surprise!!! Bad surprise!!!! The cover is too dark, and you can't read the title easily. I looked inside and right away noticed that The acknowledgement for the photographer of the cover photo was missing. I know I typed his info in. I'm thinking that the computer shut down, and I must not have saved that bit. Yes, I have auto save, but I don't like using it because I end up with two copies, and I sometimes get confused and work on one copy, then the other, and by the time I realize what's happening, I have some corrections on one letter and some on the other, and I don't know what is where. By the way, I made about fifteen mistakes typing this. Now, I'm trying two different colors for the wording on the cover and I've requested a proof of each. While I'm waiting for the proof, I'll proofread the manuscript one more time. Sigh.

D, what you're wading through begs the question of why publishing excites writers. I suspect it is suddenly finding yourself on the other side of the slog.

We're getting 3 fresh windows put in tomorrow. So cleaning WAY MORE than needed due to the motivation. Also, D, found the clips in the back. Wasn't an easy push, so used a screwdriver to wedge them free.

As faithful readers may recall, we had a water damage event in January. The mitigation people we used are not happy with the final claim amount our insurance company set. They sent me an invoice for the balance, and, as instructed by the insurance company, I said my insurer represents us and they should work it out with them. I also said I'd like for it to be a 3-way conference call because if the result might be I owe more money, I want in on the conversation.

Now they've involved the referring company. Just had a frustrating call with them because my honest answer to their question about my satisfaction led them to jump in and contact the contractor. I thought my response was confidential. She asked for a copy of the insurance report. Refused, after this crazy result from my email response why should I? I offered to include them in a 4-way call with the insurance company should it come to that. She declined, "we don't get involved with insurance companies." Just trying to muscle me to pay more than I should, right? GRrrrr!

Anyway, feeling better sharing this, thanks for lending me your eyes.

Hi R, it sounds to me that you're doing more work in retirement than when you were working: "4-way call with the insurance company..." Just reading that paragraph made me want to curl up into a fetal position and stick my thumb in my mouth!

OMG, R. That's the kinds of mess that makes me say very bad words. I do remember the water damage mess. I was hoping it was finished and that you'd moved on. Boy, some stuff just clings.

Publishing is fun when you hold this beautiful book with its perfect cover in your hands, and you look inside, and there are no mistakes. Much like any other accomplishment. Then reality hits, and you start finding one tiny insignificant little typo, and, surely, it's the only one. And then you find just one more, etc. And the cover isn't as wonderful as you first thought it was. But I cling to the hope that I'm intelligent enough to get it right.

Almost there. Almost there. Publishingwise, that is. Having written is wonderful if it's good, and horrible if it's bad. Writing is frustrating a lot of the time, but when you get - "in the zone," sounds corny, but it fits. When you're in the zone, it's a lot of fun.

I hope all three of us are done with frustration for a while.
