Late night tonight, its almost 2am and I'm not in bed yet. Spoke to my husband, and he is still very much in love with me. Somehow, I need that kind of validation for me to be able to rest. I think that's beyond dysfunction, but you know what, whatever I need to get to sleep, I don't care. Not talking to him, and avoiding him, has caused me immeasurable unrest and pain.

I did sleep 8 and a half hours last night, YAY! But I think that was from total exhaustion.

Got some bad news tonight too which kept me up - my insurance didn't pay for my CPAP supplies. I have a $400 deductible, so they will be taking $258.00 from me next week to pay for it because I haven't met that stupid deductible yet. I just can't catch a break.

@Tart Cherry Jam - I totally get sleeping over 8 hours and still being sleeping. With all the sleep I had last night, I was falling asleep at work today, (irony that I am wide awake now), but also, if I am really hungry it wakes me up at night too, I understand that struggle.

I like that we are trying to go to bed at the same time every night, it's really a good routine. Hope @SquarePegGuy has been sleeping well too.

Sweet dreams!

So you, too, are woken up by hunger in the middle of the night...

I did not need to eat at night. I will be able to show up for my fasting blood draw now. Success.

Success! I can't believe my luck. I made it to the blood draw appointment on time, then had to wait and the blood was drawn at 9:30 am. Last night I finished eating supper at 8:30 pm. So 13 hours without food. For me it is a lot.

Was alert and happy, went to a fitness session and then to my manicurist. Started feeling drowsy as she was working on my nails.

Now I will go grocery shopping, then eat lunch quickly, then take a nap.

I think the deductible on the plan my wife and I share is $750 for each of us, so I know the feeling, @LadyShadow. But I'm lucky in that my employer allows me to use a Flexible Spending Account, which they fund by deducting from my paycheck. It provides a lot of "cushion" because I can withdraw more than I've paid into it, up to the annual limit.

I went to bed at 11pm last night. I didn't fall asleep immediately even though I skipped my dose of Effexor. When I woke up at about 4:15am, I decided to feed the cats as I used to do. Then I went back to bed at 5pm, but I had the chills and had trouble falling back to sleep. The next thing I know I wake up from a vivid dream and, whoa, it's 8am!

My GI says I have to eat three hours before bed. But he mentioned not just before sleeping but before laying down/reclining (I like to lay down an hour before actual sleeping and read or watch something). Do I literally have to eat before I even get home from work? I have long commute. Should I eat in a car? Lol Doesn’t even make sense.

I am really struggling you guys. This thing with my husband is wrecking and tormenting my soul. I keep thinking back to the man that he used to be, and I know that he is mentally unwell, and it just brings guilt, shame and remorse on my spirit.

I was robbed of sleep again last night. I didn't even use my CPAP at ALL. That was the first time in a long time I haven't used my machine. My husband called me and told me I have to send him my bank cards because I am an imposter, and I am not who I say I am. It hurts so bad. I know I have to cut him off completely. I know it's his delusions talking, but it's robbing me of sleep and peace of mind. I napped today a couple of times, but I am really struggling. Praying that I get sleep tonight. Hope I don't get in too much trouble with the insurance company for skipping my machine last night, I know they are funny about that.
It’s ok to skip some nights. It happens. My husband sleeps with cpap and there’ve been times when we lost power and it was too late to go to a hotel etc so no CPAP or something else happened. They understand that.

I did it for the first time in 2023. Withdrew a little more than I paid into it. That sure felt pleasant. I am again putting money into the FSA this year, up to the annual limit.

Does not make any sense. A common but completely unrealistic recommendation.

The price for this productive and alert morning and afternoon was a super long nap. 3 hours in bed, of which 2 hrs 20 minutes of net sleep, with a lot of deep sleep, more than during this past night. I actually still feel somewhat out of it, probably because the sleep was so deep.

I need to listen to recordings of a 2023 conference on youtube. I have already listened to a lot, but there are more, as the whole conference, which I did not attend, lasted two full days. In an attempt to break through this fog, I will go row (slowly!) on a rowing machine while listening to recordings. It is not as good as watching them because I will miss slides, but it is better than nothing.

Normally this does not happen to me. Normally when I take naps and even late naps, I wake up alert. I guess today is different.

@LadyShadow @divine1966 @SquarePegGuy

I am getting a discount off the electricity bill through Pacific Gas and Electric company. There was some form that the office of the sleep medicine doctor filled out and submitted directly to the utility company and my discount kicked in. It is considered vital equipment (not using the precise term, but you get the point). Does your utility company offer discounts for CPAP users, too?

Oh I don't know! I thought the point of letting the utility know you have medical equipment is so that they will prioritise power restoration in your area. I'll definitely look into it, thanks!

That, too, and placing yourself on their special list of getting texts or emails about power outages.

10:33 PM good night!

PS I have an event to go to tomorrow. It will run from 10-4, so I plan to, as an exception, take Dexedrine in the morning.

But should I even go? I just got this:

"The National Weather Service (NWS) forecasted an intensified storm on Sunday, increasing the risk of flooding, fallen trees, downed power lines, power outages, and hazardous roadway conditions.

A High Wind Warning will be in effect from 10 p.m. on Saturday, February 3, 2024, to 10 p.m. on Sunday, February 4, 2024, for the Santa Cruz Mountain areas of the County and the East Santa Clara Hills. Forecasted sustained winds of 40 mph or more are expected, accompanied by gusts exceeding 68 mph at elevations between 900 and 2500 feet. Saturated soils increase risk of runoff to creeks, streams, and roadways that may increase the risk of flooding and mudslides.

Avoid driving if possible."

When was the last time your area had a storm with winds that high? If not in recent memory, there's a good chance that trees will blow over. And flooding and mudslides are even more dangerous.

Although it does mention that this weather is taking place on Saturday and Sunday, which was yesterday and today. So maybe you'll be fine weather-wise. But you might have an issue with road closures.

Added: Oops, now I realize that you did write that on Saturday night. Sorry for any confusion -- Hope you are okay!

Here's a link to a website that provides online streams of emergency scanners in CA:

Gosh guys, I had no idea how much you can learn by just being on this thread! I definitely have to look into the utility company thing, because I had no idea that existed.

My money woes are getting worse on top of me trying to get over my husband. I owe almost $1000 in taxes because I got a 1099 from my employer. Mind you, it was HER decision to pay us off the books and then turned around and gave us all 1099s. I could have prepared myself if I had known this was going to happen.

I think I am getting too much caffeine at night - either from my Diet Pepsi or these supplements I take, and that's what is keeping me up at night. Last night, I was dead tired, then woke up wide awake at 3am. It took me moving to my couch to get some more sleep, (change of scenery maybe?) And then I napped at my parent's house for another hour or two. This napping has got to stop.

I am going to attempt to go to bed at midnight tonight - going to force myself off of the computer.

Have a great night's sleep guys!

Thank you for that website link Square Peg Guy! I only now read the message.

I went to my event today and now I feel simply lucky to be alive. The event was great and thanks to Dexedrine ER taken in the morning, I was not sleepy. I came home, worked some and then had 60 minutes of strength training. I already feel that I sometimes need to swallow saliva that pools in the back of my mouth in small quantities, a side effect of Dexedrine, but it is not annoying yet. It is not yet something that makes it impossible to think of anything else. I will definitely skip Dexedrine tomorrow before the side effect worsens.

On my way back home from the event, I drove around huge fallen tree branches.

At home, when I went to get yesterday's mail, the path was blocked by a whole fallen tree. I took pictures and sent to the property management company.

Clearly, I am lucky that nothi g happened to me this weekend, that these trees did not fall on me.

I will monitor the updates before venturing outside again.

10:28 PM good night

took Zyprexa and not Seroquel as I am overly excited and I was concerned that Seroquel would not cut it tonight. Zyprexa is a stronger hypnotic for me.

Have been up since before 6AM. Have been productive. Weird: I slept, per OURA, only 4 hours 6 minutes with 0 deep sleep, and yet I feel fine. Let us see where it takes me.

I realize that I built up suspense and then did not deliver. On that night when I stayed late, I was frantically doing web searches. Earlier that day, out of sudden curiosity, I did a web search for my ex husband's name, discovered new results and then, one click and search leading to another, unearthed a major case of fraud. He represents one image of himself to the court but in reality is a completely different person and I found many traces of that online. The next hearing is on this coming Friday and my attorney will use this evidence to impeach my ex husband, undermining his credibility. The fraud is on a large scale; he has continued over the years to make misrepresentations to the court, but the evidence online paints the opposite picture. If my attorney is successful, the hope is that this will bring the drawn-out case to closure and I won't have to think about my ex husband anymore. He exploited me majorly in the past and it was not until I found this wonderful current attorney of mine that I started seeing the light at the end of the tunnel.
