I have been burning myself since I was 16. There's something about watching the metal turn that beautiful red/orange. When I see that I know relief is on it's way. I burn to release the pain inside and to try to wake myself up from the nightmare that is my life. Can anyone relate? Any suggestions?

Are you in therapy so that you can change the nightmare?

Well there is the obvious suggestion STOP DOING IT

But clearly I'm not in a position to be giving that sort of advice, and yes I can totally relate to what you are saying, I have a nice burn on my wrist, started out as something minor but I became a bit intoxicated by what I was doing. I was heating up a piece of wire and kept putting it in the same spot, the burn became a hole that I kept burning deeper and deeper. It wasn't until a few days later that I realized how lucky I was that I didn't burn through an artery or tendon or something else important.

And I would agree with Sannah thought, if you aren't in therapy please consider starting.
