Every time I cut I ask myself the same question.

"Why are you doing this?"

And I have no answer.

I think many of us ask ourselves this. But I think if we dig very deep, we can find reasons & triggers. Perhaps bad things happened in our past. Maybe we're stressed out about something. Maybe somebody has made us angry. It can be something simple too. Maybe we want to see ourselves bleeding, or make things feel real. I think there is always a reason, no matter how small.

I ask the same question and always come up with the same answer "I don't know"

If anyone does know the answer could you please let us know...

It must bring some sort of relief? If it didn't serve some sort of purpose you wouldn't do it.

somewhere deep within every question lies an answer, sometimes they are just more difficulty to find. The very act of self injury is reflective of some sort of pain... whether that be physical/emotional/psychological *insert word*

Good news? That you're asking the question in the first place .. at some level you are acknowledging that your actions are causing you distress, and thats the first step. Keep asking questions, the answers are in there somewhere.

Please try and be careful/gentle with yourself ...

Questions are easily asked but never easily answered. I hope someday we all find the answer we're looking for. However, I know for a FACT self injury will NEVER lead us to that answer. Seeking out a new path and new answers are our only hope. But keep asking...

I want to answer your question with another question.
Why do we do anything? Some of us here will say we do things because it is expected of us. Some will say because we have too. Some will say because we want too. Some say because it is the right/wrong thing to do.

Does it matter the answer? All it matters is that we need to find something that will help us to stop the Self Injury repetition/addiction.
Thanks for this!

It accompanies the mood you're in, but it's optional to SI.
I mean, I can feel like crp the whole day but not SI, and then there were those days where I felt the same and thought, "Well, what the h-ll, let's go.."
As long as that thought or thoughts can be controlled while in that mood, the SI shouldn't be as appealing to you.

ps: It's honestly better to be in a "bleh" mood rather than a crappy one. Those blah days makes virtually everything unappealing, and those days ended my SI epoch.
