There are so many types of SI. I think for me it depends on where my head and emotions are. I do things that may risk my health. I have in the past done some real damage, emotionally.
As I hurt my body, I take myself back a few steps.
I feel that is is my way to express what I am feeling... but not a healthy one.

I always say, it is better that a person doesn't SI.

i agree - not starting is the best option - but as you said there are many ways to SI including overspending to the point of bankruptcy , over or under eating, cutting burning. scratching, picking, staying wiht someone abusive, not geting therapy when you knwo you need it cos youre "not worth it" letting people walk over you on a regular basis - JMO but these are all types of Si

thnakfully there are techniques available to help us and what we have to do is find the one that works

Heres hoping everyone finds what works for them that isnt self harming

I think sometimes people forget that there are differnet types of SI. Cutting seems to be the most common one discussed here.
I dont cut, I OD and sleep the pain away

Some times I will do just about anything to SI myself. Including punching walls, hitting hand with a hammer, but cutting I have never done. I overspend to the point I am broke and have not paid my bills. I guess SI differs from person to person.
