Yeasterday at collage it was so bad everything was getting on top of me. I tried to cut myself in class with a screwdriver. It wasnt the first time and i dont think it will be the last. Does it make me a bad person?

You're definitely not a bad person, but I think that most people will tell you not to get into the habit. It's a very difficult habit to break, so you're better off not starting. My vote is that you visit your school psychologist and get help before you do something this desperate. There are healthier ways to alleviate anxiety, and the responsibility is on you to find them.

Good luck,
LMo

You're not a bad person. Just maybe don't start down that road, because it's not a good road. PM me anytime. And hey new member!

I agree with LMo,it definitely doesn't make you a bad person. Self injury is a form of coping... how can that be bad? It's not a healthy form of coping though. I hope when you are tempted in the future, you can use Rapunzel's distractions list on the forum page Nearly did it. Congrats on getting through yesterday.

No that does not make you a bad person. I hope you find another coping skill that works for you. As this is very addicting I hope you find some help to avert this behavior at the onset. Please try and be safe and kind to yourself.

It does seem like the only thing that helps when you haven't learned other ways to cope. You do have to cope somehow. But in the long run, it doesn't make things better. It makes new problems. Most of us need help in order to learn how to really deal with what's bothering us rather than use SI to distract ourselves and avoid it. I hope that you can find someone to help you.

Welcome to the forums. Nearly did it

I know you feel pretty hopeless now, but it doesn't have to stay like that. You can keep posting here, and maybe tell us what's going on that is so bad. Being a student can be really stressful, and even if that isn't all of it, that can really intensify feelings of despair and hopelessness. Besides talking to us, you really need to tell someone in real life how things are going - go to the student counseling center, or talk to a doctor. They can help you to start feeling better. I promise.
