I am sitting around after snacking on the couch with my hubby and have a very bad urge to jump in the shower and cut.

Nothing has triggered me that I'm aware of, but I want to slash at my leg until the blood makes me feel better. :S:S:S:S

Has this become a habit?

I've been feeling v v crap today, as I have been lately, but nothing especially today, and normally it takes something to trigger me.

Why do I want to cut?!

Any thoughts?

Sounds like it has become a habit...do you have any other coping skills you can try to break the cycle?

It sounds like it's just become a habit/addiction. The way I normally judge that is if you want to, but have no trigger or "reason" to. Especially if your mood is okay. That's why stopping SI is so hard for most people, even if things are going alright. The urge is still there, and there's not always a reason.

Feeling bad would cause urges to SI to improve your mood I would think.

It became a habit for me too.. I would do it without even thinking. Usually right before bed, when i would go in the bathroom i would just do it. It's a hard habit to break, as are most all habits, but you can break it[:

I've felt similar. It does become a habit. Quite a habit to have..
You just have to focus the thought elsewhere, until you learn to break the habit.
