I have no idea where I fit into this forum. My self harm begun after an accident.
I was sleepwalking and fell, banged my head and awoke with bl.....d on face.
6 months later i'm cutting, but i'm not going deep at all, i'm just creating a mess, at the time i could not sleep, then i cut and i kinda fainted. I know in real life (in my life) people who sh/si and they are in hosp for awhile.
I self heal as well as , si/sh.
I used to do patterns, i've had cover ups done, but the cover ups are not tattoos. Its another form of scaring.

I do not know where i fit into this world of doing this stuff.

It seems to be like an addiction.

So like any other addiction 'thing that i do' i'll treat it the same, try to control it....

I am still left with questions though.

If you have questions, post them here. Many of us who read the treads, can help, because we have been there.

As to what you have been doing, yes that is a form of SI/SH, if you are hurting tissue, then it is considered SI/SH. Your idea of it being an addiction, is correct Many here and myself have the addiction, no matter what form it takes. Try to control it, or find out why it all started. If you look at what you are feeling, and then try to change how you think, it will help. Good luck, and keep posting, it does help.
Thanks for this!

Addictions are attempts to improve your mood when you feel bad. If you want to stop needing addictions you need to work on your issues in therapy so that you won't need any of the addictions to improve your mood.

I do have a T who specialises in sh/si. We have debates on just what it is, she agrees that it can become an addiction.
Her approach is to see whats missing, and then try to fill the gap.
I know its hard, but I've not sh/si'd since finding PC, this makes her happy,; and seeing her happy makes me happy, and when i look in the mirror and see myself, i'm happy @ seeing progress (its a weird world sometimes).

Seeing progress is the best!!! And I'm so glad that PC has helped you so much One word of advice Being Happy from the inside is much better than seeing someone happy and then the situation makes it so you can be happy.
