Is it considered self injury if, in a fit of rage, the only thing that makes me feel better is to smash something in until I bleed? I don't like to stop until I see blood on my knuckles... But, I don't cut or anything else like that.

I would consider it SI. Do you have anyone you can talk to about it like a T?
Thanks for this!

SIing is any act of harming yourself. So of course this is SIing. Its just not as common as some peoples. Have you ever told anybody? It will help alot if you would talk it out with a T but if you don't maybe you could tell a friend. Take care and be good to yourself.

Self injury/self harm can take many forms - a deliberate act to hurt oneself takes many forms depending on the person.

Thanks for the responses! I did mention it to my T a couple weeks ago, but there wasn't a lot of discussion about it. Didn't know if that meant it wasn't a big deal... if she's just noting it for later... or if I need to bring it up again. I'll bring it up again just in case.

The scars are all over my hands, but I never really pointed them out to her... might be a good idea!
Thanks for this!

i only speak for myself, S/I or rage = both.
I would rather S/I myself than hurt another....!
... i try to just be myself...i dont want to s/i, s/h......but it happens.
Why; i dont really know, but i know i Regret the results (scars)...
I try though to not do it...

yes it sounds like its self injury
it can take many forms and while cutting is the most talked about a person does not need to cut to be a self harmer
i say 'sounds like' because the motivation determines it more than the act (in the sense that S&M is not self harm but can involve similar acts to self harm) and since im not a expert i could be wrong
you should def bring it up again with your T as it can get much worse if left to one side and it is clearly something thats on your mind
