Any advice on how to accept them/make myself feel better about them? I mean, I hate the idea of getting rid of my scars--it'd be like none of the pain I went through ever happened, or something. But, anyway, I'm going to school to become a Medical Assistant and we often perform procedures on each other; and though the majority of my class has already seen my scars, I still feel rather insecure about having them.

Any advice, comments, thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Any chance you can pick who does the procedures on you - so you can have the person you feel most comfortable with?

Yes, and I do. And it's not that I'm afraid of them judging me or accepting me, it's just that it makes me sad that I have them.

I guess I just need to continue to build my self-esteem and such.

Your scars are a physical symbol of what you've been through emotionally. Not being sad that you have them will take time, and acceptance of yourself and what you've been through. Self-esteem is part of it, but another is acknowledging that What happened can't be changed, and that your experiences have changed you and made you stronger. <3
