so I have lots of quite bad scars between my wrist and elbow on my left arm. what I want to know is, is it normal for them to be sore to touch? they get itchy, which I know means they are healing or something but they are sore when I touch them..

Yes, its just because they are healing. i have plenty of scars healing right now and until its done healing it will be sore to the slightest touch. i have some new ones starting to scar over myself.

The itching drives me insane and bothers me more than the soreness.
But...it also makes me think twice the next time I get the urge... |

You know it's funny this post came up because I cut myself quite badly 15 times on my left arm (always the left) I fell asleep for a while after (that's what cutting does to me, calms me and makes me very tired). Anyway when I woke it hurt very bad an that night I struggled to sleep. I created a load of pressure on my arm over night by a tight bandage that helped the pain.
I remember asking if it usually hurt this bad but didn't get any answers. Once the pain went the itching started and man I'm not sure what was worse! I would scratch which would create pain... So a no win situation! I had to use home stitches on them too. |

I think it is normal for them to hurt right after you've done them..
what I mean is that some that are like 3+ months old are still really sore to touch.. so they are no longer fresh cuts they are really quite old. |

Oh.. Well I have never experienced pain from old scars. Did they get infected at the time? Did it need medical attention at the time? I think you should see a doctor. I once cut my wrist open really bad and it turned purple and blue. I saw a doctor straight away and I needed to have a tetanus shot. If you are worried get it checked out.

the sore ones needed stitches, but I'm up to date with tetnus.
I'm not super worried but I might mention it to my GP when I see him next. |

Maybe the ones that needed stiches damaged more than the skin? I'm not sure I'm not a doctor but would be interested to know what is going on.
Good luck. |
