happened to me today. i had to go get a shot. and it wasnt until the nurse went to move my sleeve up that i suddenly remembered. and then it was too late.

i try not to do the arms and wrists. but did it all over this time. and forgot i done it there too. is it normal to forget where. even briefly.

I think if you do it quite often and aren't too concerned as to where then i guess this would be a common occurence. Ive got stitches at the moment so my arms are a no go area. In the past ive gone to harm on my stomach and have ended up reaching the tops of my legs where some wounds were healing and well...yeah, it wasn't good. Are you in treatment for the SI? Good luck.

Yes this happened to me when I went for my flu jab last year, I forgot that I had a scar at the top of my arm and the nurse said that she can't do it there cos I am scarred, I felt so embarrassed

yes. I forget about my scars (only because I don't care anymore), but when people ask "what is that?" and point to my arms I am honestly confused until I look down.

Hi smmath

Sorry i only just saw your post.

Yes, the stitches were from my suicide attempt and i am mightily ashamed of it.

Secondly i don't think your weak or don't deserve help - i don't think that about anyone here. And secondly it doesn't matter how 'deep' you self harm - its not a true reflection of the pain inside, the fact that your doing it is enough to signal that your in need of help should you wish to take it. That said i do know people who self harm because they 'enjoy' it and don't apparently have anything they feel bad about. Personally i don't know if this is true but i guess with self harm it all boils down to perception...

Good luck getting the help you need.
