Ive only just signed up to this site today but im desperate for some help. I've been cutting myself for the last 9 months and i really dont know what to do.im trying to stop but its just so hard. im only 17 and i hate living like this, constantly having to hide how much im hurting on the inside, and the scars on the outside. ive got permanent scars on my upper thighs and arms. my boyfriend, who i have been dating for 7 months gets really upset and mad when i do it. I feel so guilty for upsetting him, but that just makes me want to do it more. i really need some help, i dont know what to do anymore. my life is being controlled by this and im hurting everyone around me. Please, someone help me.

Forget everybody and their reactions for a while and focus on yourself ... A professional counselor who specializes in self-injury can help you with this (without getting angry, upset or mad at you in the process) ...

People who do get angry at you simply don't understand, and their getting mad at you isn't helping you and can quite possibly be making it worse ...

As soon as you start focusing on yourself, the reasons why you do it will start to come into focus, and as you deal with those issues then the urge to do it will become less intense and controlling ...

PS. Contrary to popular belief, focusing on yourself so you can figure out why you're doing this so you can stop it and start healing IS NOT SELFISH ... !!!

Good Luck & Best Wishes ...

Sincerely,
BrokenCloud
Thanks for this!
