I was just outside having a cigarette and I realised, admittedly after a bit of vodka, that I enjoy the feeling I get from self harm.
Is this normal?

Well actually yes this is normal...but it's NOT good. Cutting seems to cause people to get a high. However after awhile, like any high, people come crashing down. It may take awhile, but eventually you will feel worse then before. That's why it is important to stop SI as soon as possible. It may be hard, but don't give up! Hope this helps

Anytime you injure on purpose or otherwise your brain releases feel good, pain releaving chemicals. These will give you a natural high that can become addicting. That's the reason, although it hurts, it feels good.
