This is my first time posting in this forum. I just wanted to to say thanks to all the people who post in the "Reasons Not To" Thread. Reading everyone's posts has really helped me think of other things and focus on something besides si until my next session.

I haven't cut in 20 years and back when I did, I didn't get any treatment for it. I didn't learn any coping skills. I don't remember how I stopped.

I told t about my past cutting and now all the urges came back. I finally caved in to them one night. It was like I had discovered something long lost. I don't have a session for another 10 days and I am terrified to talk with t about this.

Sometimes we tell people things and it intensifies the emotions, and leads us to things we would rather not have happen. 20 years is quite a lot, but don't let one time of caving in break that.

As far as being terrified.....that's actually a good thing.... it's something so deep and intense that it scares you. and it could scare you into not cutting ever again. So yes talk about it anyway, it will be hard, but it makes us stronger when we do.
Thanks for this!

Thanks puzzclar. I know 20 years is a long time - it was in middle school. Went away until now....

attentionThis is an old thread. You probably should not post your reply to it, as the original poster is unlikely to see it.
