If you could work on your feelings and depression in therapy this would help.

I agree with Sannah. Therapy is essential to helping you stop and get to a solid place emotionally. For the meantime, check out some of the great resources that PC has about other activities to partake in, instead of harming yourself. It's hard to resist the urges sometimes, but I think if you make a plan ahead of time before you have the desire, it may be easier for you to do something else. For me, making a cup of hot tea and taking a hot shower really works to calm me down.

Please keep posting and know that we all care.

Therapy is definitely needed, but it isn't easily accessible for everyone.

As a former cutter, I know that you have to find another out. Another escape from reality. You have to find an alternative that can calm you down and relieve stress that doesn't involve harming yourself. Try listening to music, reading a book, watching a movie, playing a game, or just sleeping on it. Tell yourself that every time you feel like cutting or you get depressed, sad, angry, or lonely, that you will do one of these things. If you can stick with it, eventually cutting won't be necessary anymore, you have to get it out of your mind that cutting is even an option to feeling better.
Thanks for this!

It will be easier to get a therapist with insurance but right now there is sliding scale and government supported therapy.
