Hey,

So depression sucks, and I don't rely nor do I want to take meds for it, so I resort to self harm as a form of solution.

The pain does help to stimulate my senses and sometimes does work to make me "snap out of it".

Anyone else think so? =)

Done everything except cutting, its hard to explain about the scars....
Electrical methods are pretty effective, but its addictive =|

Smiles =D

Yeah, the pain releases endorphins which improve your mood. It is very addictive. It is better to deal with the reasons that you do it. Do you understand what is making your mood low to begin with? I don't mean for you to answer that it is your depression. There are circumstances in your life that are causing your depression.

Well you wouldn't do it, if it didn't help, right? And people sh for many reasons, but whatever the reason, the sh helps it....so I am sure it does help the depression for you and other people.
Do you think self harm is better than medication?
Do you go to a therapist?

Try exercise. It's easier than having an addiction to pain.

Yea, think so too. After i si many times I "snap out of it", though not for long. It's just simpler to rely on si than meds.

Yeaa I'd agree with you. Well that's if you know what you're doing I guess.
I mean I do know where to draw the line, so I won't accidentally kill myself in the process, but I think The response is a lot faster than meds =]

Just saying, but thanks anyway =)

Sannah is right that the reason it is easier is that it releases endorphins. Most medications do that as well but take longer.

If you ever decide that SI isn't the way you want to manage I would suggest looking up a bit about endorphins and how you can release them. As puzzclar said exercise is a good one. For some people they can also have similar 'release' through activities such as art, writing etc.

But I definitely do understand. SI was something I relied on for a long time to manage my low moods.
