At what point would someone be considered an addict in self-injury? I don't think I am at the moment, but I don't know where the line is and I'm afraid of the possibility of crossing it....

I'm not sure if there was a significant time that it happened to me. I just couldn't stop... couldn't go through a day without si'ng .. usually more than once a day. And it took hospitalizations and years of therapy and dbt therapy to break it from being habitual. However, every now and again I might si, but with the tools I have learned along this path at this point I CAN stop myself.
If you can find a way to stop this now..... please do..
If you have a T, talk about distraction techniques... ask people on here how they work on turning the urge into some other action...
I hope this helped a bit...

I would say someone becomes an "addict" when they are constantly turning to self-injury instead of choosing some other method of releasing emotional stresses. When you cut, for example, a few time a year, I would say your not an addict; but if you cut maybe once a month or more I would consider that an addiction. It just depends on how much you do it in any given period of time and where you are emotionally when you self-harm, and why you self-harm.
