Please be safe, and dont hurt yourself...the aftermath never really makes a positive difference.
I hope you get better soon.
PM me if you want to.

Good job keeping yourself safe so far! Try to keep it up, and if you need to, getting help IRL (telling someone so that they can help you to feel better and not act on those thoughts) is also a sign of strength.

Hey Crista, there was a problem with technical details on this thread and somehow your reply got copied about 40 times. I have just put my original reply to you back in place. Feel free to re-post what you wrote too, (I'll PM you with the text in case you don't have it).

I'll go ahead and reply again too. If you wouldn't mind, I would really like to hear more about you and your situation. You said that you are living in a nursing home. I have worked in nursing homes, and I know that people there can be there for any number of health issues and can be any age, so I wonder how old you are and why you are there? That could be really frustrating just having to live in a nursing home, and hard to deal with.

There is a myth or a bias in our society that somehow people tend to think that psychotherapy and mental health are less important for people in nursing homes, and it sounds like you have fallen victim to that bias, unfortunately. It just isn't true. It doesn't matter where you live or how old you are, etc. - if you need counseling by a mental health professional, you should be able to get it. Nurses might not be aware of that though, so you will just have to educate them if the are not taking you seriously. If whoever you have talked to isn't listening, see if you can talk to the director of social services or other social service worker. If they still don't listen, there should be a sign somewhere with a toll-free number for the long-term-care ombudsman. The ombudsman is pretty sure to listen and help you make the right connections. I've been an ombudsman too.

Quality of life, at least as much as you can achieve, is a right that you don't forfeit when you live in nursing home.

I'm here if I can help.

attentionThis is an old thread. You probably should not post your reply to it, as the original poster is unlikely to see it.
