So yesterday afternoon when I had an extremely angry emotional response to a phone conversation I started picking at my skin. and was doing this off and on during the evening. My face is now full of red blotches.. I was actually drawing blood in some spots.. This wasn't popping pimples, just scratching/digging at any imperfection... my face looks ugly, but not so bad that its scary. I mean it actually HURT to wash my face with this very mild nuetragena face wash.
It is different than when I wouldn't let a cut heal, that was to see blood. Anyone else do this picking kinda thing??

Yeah. This is why I wont answer the phone anymore. I got a phone call ten days ago im still recovering from. I got a jar of generic noxzema cream I use sometimes, it seems to blend the color back to even.
Thanks for this!

I do this all the time when I am stressed/anxious/angry. Though it's mostly localized to my scalp and the back of my neck. I thought it was another abnormal part of myself for a long time, but I am learning this is a compulsion a lot of people experience. Sending hugs your way, I hope you heal up soon.

When I get very anxious I tend to pick at the skin on my lips. Sometimes enough to cause them to bleed, I find that if I keep my hands busy or apply lip balm or lip stick when I'm feeling anxious, I can avoid picking at my lips.
Thanks for this!
