Does anyone else use tattoos as an alternative to cutting? After a long tattoo session, I feel so much more at peace! Just wondering if anyone else felt this way.

My parents dont let me. Actually i never even thought about it as an alternative. I want tattoos to cover up (or try to) some of my scars.

I had never gotten any of my ink as an alternative to SI, though sometimes the urges are there and I try to think of a more socially acceptable way to satisfy them. Generally I need to be in charge of the damage though, so the relief is not quite the same. I do get an adrenaline rush from tattoos though, so I know what you mean.

I definitely enjoy getting them done, and experience almost a high from the pain. But I've never sought it out as a replacement for SI, or even as a form of SI. I see it as an art form and the pain is just a bonus.

Really, it has the same effect than cutting. But... it's beautiful. I love my ink, I love my piercings, I hate my scars, my cuts. I don't cut on my arms anymore because of my tattoos, it has really helped me in that way.
