Hi friends,
I got to see a shrink for the first time yesterday. He told me I had severe anxiety with possible OCD. He also confirmed the idea that I was anorexic over hte summer and during the beginning of this school year, but that I replaced it with self-injury. He started me on Zoloft and stuff.
Meanwhile, I have three friends who also self-injure. One of them has started seeing a therapist but very reluctantly, the second will be seeing one for the first time on February 17th, and the third hasn't told her parents yet. I'm such a worrier, but the idea that my three close friends are doing this has really been getting to me. They tell me to relax, but that's very close to impossible. All of this is just getting to me... I'm hurting myself more and more...
Anyway, I haven't exactly checked out the anxiety board we have here, but it seems like it's not really the kind of anxiety I have, stuffing my feelings and not being able to vent. I dunno, is that idea off? Oh, and I was wondering, is a pdoc a normal doctor or a shrink? Thanks much,

No matter what, keep breathing.

pdoc is the person who perscribes your perscription aka psychiatrist. Then you have your T who does all the head work. psychiatrists used to do the head work but have seemed to specialized in the medication area. At least this is my understanding.

As far as your friends all doing it too, often people gravatate to other people who are like them, experiencing the same sort of things. I think it is awesome that you have people with you who are trying to stop doing this thing. You all can support each other in your quest for mental health. They will really understand you when you seek their support.
