I've been working really hard to stop cutting. I recently traced my hand then shaded it in and self harmed on the drawing. If you touch the drawing you can feel how deep the score marks in the paper are.

This might trigger some people but it might be a coping mechanism that might work. You don't have to be a great artist. You can just trace your hand.

That is a good idea A lot of people I know have found comfort in drawing etc so this could be a good addition to that.

The Well... wow, this is a great technique!!! Thanks so much for sharing this - first, I'd like to say that your artistic skills are fantastic it looks so realistic and also, I feel like I always need to find new coping mechanisms... I've battled with depression and PTSD, and although in most ways I've been able to deal with them a lot better, and overcome certain aspects of them, I still feel the urge to cut sometimes. I don't really know why, and I guess that makes me pretty strange. Sometimes when I get really down, I want to. But I guess it's the times when I'm truly happy that I think about it the most, because certain parts of me still believe that I don't deserve this happiness, you know? Anyways, I'm rambling... but I really wanted to let you know that this coping mechanisms is really great, and I might try it out sometime. It really means a lot to me that you posted this, because I think that it can truly help many people cope with SI
