hi - welcome.
Yeah, my gran did that for years and years... all my growing up. Then one day her arms were totally clear (they had been covered in scabs from wrists to shoulders). I asked her when she had stopped and she didn't even know! She just stopped one day and they healed after at least 3 decades of picking.
guess there's hope eh?
"They" say that when the SI becomes painful it is no longer doing it's "job" and it will stop.

I do mouth/cheek chewing -sometimes i forget about it and then the next thing i know i've got a bloody mouth full of tiny holes- like tonight. Stress, computer not working well, school starting up, job searching.... chewing.

wow its been a while since that first post. How time flies. Since then this disorder has an official name: dermatillomania,
Plus its been accepted into the DSM-5
