Dear Bracelets,
You once ruled my life, lining half of both my arms. You once covered most of my shame and embarrassment. But today as I stand here looking at all of you sitting in a big pile on my dresser, I smile. Because my arms are free. Yes, my scars are visible. Yes, they are out in the open for all to see. But how many times have I struck a conversation encouraging others who self harm because I left you behind. How many people have seen my willingness to be open, and decided that they too, should open up. More than one. I can tell you that. Yes bracelets, you are pretty, but I will never let you rule my life again. Now the only bracelet I wear is a pink and silver medical alert bracelet. And there is absolutely no shame in that one. ![]() Sincerely, Stronger.

Congrats! I still find comfort in my bracelets, but I don't wear nearly as many as I used to. Three is my max. Going by my own attachment to them, I know you worked hard! Good for you!

Interesting post, OP. Kinda sucks being a guy, 'cause we are often limited with what we can wear on our arms; you won't see me donning pink bracelets, put it that way. :P Problem is, they draw a lot of attention. I would probably make my arm more obvious, with one, than if I didn't wear one. I'm quite used to wearing shirts, coats, jumpers, fleeces, and what-have-you, so I'm not too fussed. It can be pretty brave to be going out knowing your scars are visible; took me a while to get up the courage to do that, but mostly of the time I do definitely cover up.

All of mine our leather or stringed. *not a girl* haha I remember I made my scars visible once by mistake. And people were telling me I was being brave. I thought they were commenting on my sweater choice.

Lol. Big whoops, then! xD Leather sounds kewl, actually, ... Gothic style would be neat. I have some wristbands and stuff, but not even remotely enough to cover the whole arm.
