Has anyone else here used smoking as a sort of passive SI?

I originally took up smoking to relieve stress. It fulfilled this purpose because knowing that every draw was damaging me made me feel better.

Does this mean that although I haven't physically hurt myself in over 5 years because I only gave up smoking 7 months ago that really my no SI record is only 7 months?

Maybe hating one's self is SI as well? But I smoked for many years and never thought of what it may or may not be doing for my health I just did it because my father did, then for the way I felt then because I thought I couldn't function normally without them fro almost 30 years. Then I quit and realized how mistaken I was.

I very deliberately started smoking because I knew it would hurt me but in the end that was no longer a factor- I was simply addicted.

Sorry I disagree I don't believe smoking. Is self harming!
Unless your smoking 60 a day to make yourself sick I don't agree your self harming.
How ever as a smoker I agree it let you think your dealing with stress but that to is a lie.
Smoking is bad for you. I well know. You may never get cancer because of it. Your not doing your health good and you stink. Just like me.
Stop smoking and love yourself because you are worth it xxx
