Does anyone know some pretty effective alternatives to self harm? I've read some methods, but none seemed to have worked. If anyone has alternatives that will be helpful please lmk! I appreciate it.

If you self harm to let out strong emotions, you can:
-excersize
-talk to a friend you trust
-self-harm with something that won't do as much damage (like a rubberband)
Hoped that helped
Thanks for this!

Alternatives to SH? Death. Sorry if that is upsetting, but I honestly feel if I didn't SH - I would have no choice but to do something worse.......

Sometimes a wear a rubber band one my wrist. It makes a good sharp sensation when you snap it & reddens my skin.
Thanks for this!

that statement can be true for me too, sometimes

here i am... going from day to day, not really living- just surviving, and then when i've had enough of it all i cut myself because it feels good as a release, it's like i'm slowly killing myself anyway in all senses so where's the diffrence

Well there is the distraction of the chat room here, that has helped me a few times.

Also if you have someone IRL that understands SI is very helpful.

Distraction has helped me. I used some of the things in the distress tolerance module of DBT a few times, and it helped.
