So a couple weeks ago I was at church, and after service one of my friends asked me if I was ok. I said yeah, and that I was just thinking about stuff. He said 'good stuff I hope?' I was like, well not really. We just kinda sat there for a minute, and he was just watching me. So finally I told him I wasn't ok. I told him I'd been really depressed for the past several months and had slipped back in to a bad habit. He asked if this was the cutting thing, I said yes and asked if I had ever told him about it. He said no, but we were good enough friends for him to notice. I was surprised. I didn't think any of my friends knew because no one ever said anything. I'm not mad at him or anything, just surprised and wondering who else knew. Just weird I guess...

rave, I think it is nice that folks care enough to notice and ask how you are. I guess it would be sort of weird, though, to think that nobody else knew when they actually did.

Yeah its a little strange. But I really am grateful that he noticed and asked. We spent like the next 2 hours talking with me periodically bawling. He's been a huge help these past couple of weeks, just giving good advice and encouragement, and telling me I'm not alone. Cause he's like my only friend who's also struggled with severe depression. That and no one else seems to care enough to notice.

Rave - this tells me that your friend really cares about you. Maybe he didn't know how to approach the subject - but I am very impressed with his level of concern for/about you.

Congrats on having such a nice resource that you can turn to.

Thanks! It was a great relief to find out because I really did feel alone and like none of my friends, or anyone, knew or cared. I hope that I can be that good of a friend to him and others.
