After many years of cutting, for some reason I decided to burn myself instead. I don't know why I did it. It is nothing I have ever thought about doing and on top of that I hate the feeling of burns. This served no purpose at all and did not make me feel any better. In fact I wish I had just cut instead. Now I'm left with this burn that looks awful and could be but I don't know. I just don't understand why all of a sudden I chose this method. Any advice/similar stories would help.

I'm sorry, I've got nothing, but wanted to let you know I read this. I've switched up methods once in a while, but I have no insight into why... has anything changed recently? Did something different trigger the urge to burn instead of cut?

No I can't think of anything except the fact that one was more readily available than the other

I started burning things after I stopped cutting, I managed to go about a year. Actually it was more of a progressive things- I cut less and burnt things more. Apparently it counts as self harm even though I am burning things not myself.

Yes I've done the same. I think that the cutting had got a bit numb almost, and I could feel the pain from the burn in a stronger way. But I too wish I'd cut instead. I know my cuts, and I can sort of count them, to keep aware of how things are if that makes sense? The burn doesn't count to me, so now I don't know where I am...
