I have been dealing wanting to harm only for a few months now... only did ever once.... Anybody have suggestions on coping? It's very hard

I'm sorry you are struggling with this. If you can keep from getting into the habit, that would probablybe best, but I know it can be hard. Do you know what's triggered the sh? Generally, getting to the cause off the negative coping helps you deal with it. If you have someone you could talk to about it, it might be a good idea to reach out.
In the mean time, is there anything that you did in the past that brought distraction or relief? I like to do art, listen to music, head out to nature. If you look at the top of this section, there's a list of alternatives to self harming...
