I have been very sui for the past couple of months and I may have only self harmed a few times within these past months. I have recently gotten two puppies who have scratched up my arms something fierce and I can't stand the looks and the questions about what had happened to my arms even though that are not from self harming.

This past week I have been sick. I can't sleep because of this cough so I'm extremely tired. A lot of **** happened this week though and if I wasn't sick I would have acted upon my thoughts of sui but I'm to exhausted to make sure it would have worked. So instead I referred to self harming and I did a number on my hip.

So my question is, if you told your T about your SI would she ask to see it if it was on your hip? I purposefully did it there in hopes that if I talk about it she wouldn't ask to see.

Unless your T is an MD, and even then I question, I don't feel it would seem right to me. I mentioned MD because may want to check for infection.

If feeling uncomfortable and private, perhaps in my mind a better session would focus on what's going on with the current stress in your life, less at actually looking at injuries. I do ask, are you physically well enough, with your cold, to actually go to your therapists office?

My PsyD always asks to see it. The reason she does is because it helps her gauge what my mood was like at the time depending on the amount, severity, etc of them. I don't mind since I know ultimately it helps me. If you don't mind your T seeing it and its just a matter of location then take a picture to show her instead. I've done that when I had a bandage on it and knew I wouldn't be able to show her.

I hope you feel better. Hugs.

past T's have asked to see mine and I found it very weird for them to even ask to see it! It made me feel very uncomfortable I refused to show them and luckily they were only temporary T's until my one come back from extended leave!

Mine asks to see every time, but because I usually only do it on my arm. When I went to my hip, she didn't ask to see, but wanted to know if they look like the ones on my arm, since they weren't *that* bad, and after reassuring her that they weren't infected or deep she moved on to why I did it for the rest of the session.

My t's have never asked to see it if i tell them it's in an awkward place. The only time I ever showed was when it was my arm...
