Everyone notices my scars on accident and I got the worst verbal attacking I'd imagine. I went to work and happen to roll my sleeves up to do some things and soon my co-workers notices and asked what happened. I told them it was from my cat, but they looked at me odd and then another co-worker must of known what it really looked like because they stared at me disgusted and said,
"Oh hell no, your one of those ****ed up people!" I just looked at her with fear and soon everyone stopped and looked at me rudely. Then the other co-worker rolled her eyes and kept on repeating that I was stupid and childish. I just felt like leaving, even quitting my job. No ones going to look at me the same way ever again. I just wanted to die and after I tried to walk away the older co-workers were trying to give me a small disappointing conversation about my mistake, like they were my parents. I felt disrespected and rudely treated like a child with inability to look out for myself. I felt like I deserved it, but I know I didn't.

I think it is disgusting how they treated you. They do not know your story or what you have been through and they have absolutely no right to judge you. If your work there means so much to you I think you need to have a serious sit down tall with your coworkers otherwise find a place where people accept you. I hope you know that I fully support you and have my own scars. Our scars are a story and no one has a right to judge that. All the best x

That is horrible. First of all it's your business, not theirs. I would have told them to take all of their judgey little eyes and put them right back in there heads. I don't consider my scars a mistake, but if you feel they were in your case, it is no reason for them to judge you for them. It was highly inappropriate and if an apology isn't the next word to come out of their mouth - then they most definitely need to be reported to a higher authority because workplace taunting is highly unprofessional. Mostly, I just want them all to fall into a lake somewhere and drown - but a wholesome life is about forgiving. So, for those who want to remain a-holes about it - tell them to drop it and report them if necessary. But hopefully there will be a gem in there who will remember that you were a person before they knew your secret and treat you accordingly. I'm so sorry you had to experience that. *******Biiiiiiig gentle hugs!********

I'm very sorry about how they treated you. From a practical standpoint, I think you should document this incident formally at work. It is the makings for a hostile work environment and your HR person will not be happy that this is happening (in case you decide to sue).

Just a note of positivity:
Not everyone hates you for your scars.... There is always love and understanding in a community that feels that pain too. *Hearts* |

When people see my scars and recoil in disgust and horror, I keep in mind that it's them with the problem. It's not a reflection on me. People have scars, some just have more than others. If people can't handle it, then that's on them. It's not your fault.

it's totally inappropriate behavior on their part, not to mention insensitive and rude. Soulds like you handled it pretty well, good for you. I would have got in trouble for sure.

What they did was abuse; how horrible. Know what? They have scars, also (fear and ignorance) and other scars that are hidden.......
