Does anyone have experience using the 12 steps to overcome SI? I am interested in self harm anonymous meetings but ive noticed they are few and far between. Do you think working a program would be beneficial? Just interested in others experiences/opinions.

TaintedLove, I am not all that familiar with SI 12 step recovery but I am very familiar with 12 step programs. I would think that a 12 step SI program would work just as it does for other issues. I think it would be beneficial with what I know about 12 step recovery. If you can find a SI 12 step program then I would definitely go for it. Best wishes. Maybe others have actually attended these meetings and can share their own personal experience.
Thanks for this!

Years ago I went to an AA meeting and shared I needed help with SI. They were very welcoming but this might differ location to location.

I didn't stick with it. 12 Steps

I am not a fan of the whole 12-step movement, it doesn't work for me, but the support could be awesome if you can find it and are ok with the whole "higher power" stuff (that's the whole reason I can't do it, too triggering).
There was another group I tried for the SI, I think it was SMART Recovery? It didn't click for me either, but something else to look into if you are still looking for other resources.
Thanks for this!

Thanks for the support guys! I do struggle with the higher power concept. I have heard of SMART recovery. I do think that whatever I do. It's important that I stick with it.
