Hi all. I cut myself for the first time about two weeks ago. I'm 29 years old. I did it because at the time I thought suicide was my only option and I wanted to see how bad it would hurt to slit my wrists. I didn't cut very deep, but I did draw blood.
I haven't cut since. Is this a sign I'm going to get progressively worse? I hope not. Last edited by notz; Feb 26, 2015 at 12:28 AM. Reason: added trigger icon |

Hi Fox0r,
This isn't a sign that you are "going to get progressively worse", per say. I think it's a sign that you possibly need assistance in real life (professional support that is, if you aren't already receiving any), and you need to work out some strategies that you could use instead of self harm in order to nagate the emotions that you are feeling in a manner that won't be as harmful. Please take care of yourself. |

I don't think it necessarily means you're going to start self-harming and that the self-harm will escalate. I think it sounds like more of a suicide warning sign.

I agree with the other posters that it does not necessarily mean thing will get worse..... However, you opened the door to something that can be alluring in the moment, that you will regret later.
Best of luck to you. |
