I had a volleyball game tonight and part of our uniform is to wear shorts. Well, I have scars up and down my thighs from when I used to cut. I haven't cut since December although I get urges. When I was sitting down my friend pointed to my thigh and stated that I had a lot of scars. I'm afraid she has come to the conclusion that I used to cut myself. I just said yeah and looked away. I felt completely humiliated and ashamed. Do you have any suggestions on what I should do or if I should do anything?

I don't believe you need to do anything really.

This is my personal opinon on this.

You don't owe anyone an explanation.

If you are not comfortable in explaining.

Don't be pushed out of your comfort zone right now if that is not where you are at.

Your friends conclusions about all of this are her conclusions.

She is entitled to them.

We can't change what others may think.

That is okay.

We know the truth.

We don't owe an explanation for this if we are not comfortable.

If you friend asks?

Merely say I do not feel comfortable discussing this.

This is my advice.

I wonder how others deal with this in this situation?
